Our HistoryThe Canadian Institute of Management is Canada's senior management association. It was chartered in 1942 by a group of managers to increase opportunities for professional development. Currently there are 17 Branches across Canada. Our mission is to promote management and its professional applications.
Institute ProfileWe are a management and educational organization, located in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Our membership consists of 184 members.The Hamilton Branch services the regions of Hamilton-Wentworth, Halton, Haldimand-Norfolk and the City of Brantford. We are also a member of Ontario Western Region consisting of five branches located in south western Ontario. We provide two certificate programs, leading to Certified in Supervisory Management (CSM) and Certified in Management and Administration (C.I.M.). These programs are given at Mohawk College, located in Hamilton, Ontario. They are also available as correspondence courses. Our National Office is located in Barrie, Ontario and the website can be reached through http://www.cim.ca/ . Branch ActivitiesWe held the 2010 National Conference in Hamilton this Year . We are again running our successful Project Management Course starting in September 2010. Click here to find additional information. Activities at our branch include Student Feedback Night, Fun Night, Dinner Meetings, Golf Tournaments, Networking Nights and Executive Meetings. Click here for our Calender of Events. The Student Feedback Night is held at the Mohawk College and is affectionately called "Pizza Night" because of the tradition of serving Pizza. This night is very popular with the students as it gives them an opportunity to talk to the people who can make a difference in course content or the way it is presented. There are also Class Representatives who are actually members of our Executive Board. Dinner Meetings are held 3 times a year. These meetings offer a wide variety of interesting managerial topics with first rate speakers. Our next Dinner meeting will be in the Fall.
Our Annual General Meeting was held in May, 2010. At that time we elected a new Board of Directors and presented our members on course with their CSM Certificates.
The 2010 Graduation Ceremonies were held in June at that Annual General Meeting and Conference which was hosted this year by the Hamilton Branch. Here is a list of our Graduates.
